The October lunch menu is available for pre-ordering in Fast Direct. “As those of you with children know, rational parenting is like the Loch Ness Monster. We all hope it's out there somewhere, but we don't know anyone who has actually discovered it (and if we do come across someone who claims to have found it, deep down we think that person is a little off).” ― Holly Sprink, Faith Postures: Cultivating Christian Mindfulness Grace students may invite grandparents to come to school on Friday Oct. 9. Events begin at 8:00 and end at 11:30. The day includes breakfast sweets, classroom visits, and chapel. Students may invite another adult friend or relative if a grandparent is not able to attend. Parents of current Grace students are invited to visit classrooms WITH their student to hear from teachers and to see student work and projects. The evening begins in the chapel and then parents and students will be dismissed to visit classrooms. Any basketball players looking to get in some extra skills practice can come to the Grace Lutheran School gym from 4:00-5:00 p.m. or 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Sundays *(times depend on when Packers play)* Various basketball coaches will be there to help assess each player and then to work on developing individual skills such as shooting, dribbling, rebounding, post moves, etc... For children ages K-8th grade. $5 per session and all money will go to the Grace Lutheran School Athletic Department. 10/11 4:00-5:00 10/18 1:00-2:00 10/25 4:00-5:00 Grace students now have access to a trained counselor during school hours at Grace to help them with personal, family, or school issues. The free counseling is provided by the In-School Youth Counseling program from Lutheran Counseling and Family Services of WI. Students will usually meet with a counselor for a 30 minute block of time weekly (tentatively set for Tuesday mornings). The counselor will determine the frequency and number of future meetings. What Occurs during a counseling session? The therapist will be talking to your child about such things as self-esteem and self-confidence, school concerns, behavior concerns, and be present to listen to whatever is troubling the student. The counselor will be teaching problem-solving skills, anger management, stress management, assertiveness training and communication skills as needed. Cost This counseling is provided at no cost to the family. This is made possible because of grants to LCFS. Referral Process

God our Father, you see your children growing up in an unsteady and confusing world: Show them that your ways give more life than the ways of the world, and that following you is better than chasing after selfish goals. Help them to take failure, not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a new start. Give them strength to hold their faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. That is now a total of almost $75,000 over the 5 years we have held the event.
