“As those of you with children know, rational parenting is like the Loch Ness Monster. We all hope it's out there somewhere, but we don't know anyone who has actually discovered it (and if we do come across someone who claims to have found it, deep down we think that person is a little off).”
― Holly Sprink, Faith Postures: Cultivating Christian Mindfulness

Grace students now have access to a trained counselor during school hours at Grace to help them with personal, family, or school issues. The free counseling is provided by the In-School Youth Counseling program from Lutheran Counseling and Family Services of WI. Students will usually meet with a counselor for a 30 minute block of time weekly (tentatively set for Tuesday mornings). The counselor will determine the frequency and number of future meetings.
What Occurs during a counseling session? The therapist will be talking to your child about such things as self-esteem and self-confidence, school concerns, behavior concerns, and be present to listen to whatever is troubling the student. The counselor will be teaching problem-solving skills, anger management, stress management, assertiveness training and communication skills as needed.
Cost This counseling is provided at no cost to the family. This is made possible because of grants to LCFS.
Their Milwaukee Office is at 3800 N. Mayfair Road, Wauwatosa, WI 53222 800-291-4513
Dr. Chuck Meseck, Psy.D. is the CEO for LCFS.
LCFS Mission Statement We strive to assist the children, individuals, and families we serve to learn to cope with different crises in their lives. If during therapy, the discussion turns to your relationship with God, our therapists and psychologists are Christians who are willing to assist you in learning more about that aspect of your life.

God our Father, you see your children growing up in an unsteady and confusing world: Show them that your ways give more life than the ways of the world, and that following you is better than chasing after selfish goals. Help them to take failure, not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a new start. Give them strength to hold their faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

That is now a total of almost $75,000 over the 5 years we have held the event. An enormous "thank you" goes out to all of our sponsors and donors, in particular our presenting sponsors - Cousins Subs, Bell Ambulance, Catalyst Construction, and MillerCoors.
We also extend our thanks to all our volunteers and golfers. A few volunteers that went "over and above" include Karen Huettner, Jeff Lyczak, Mike Lessila, Pat Foran, and Kimmy Knuppenburg. We look forward to another successful event in 2016!
